Board Games Club – Feel bored after school? Don’t want to do homeworks on Fridays? Come to the board games club! There are a variety of games that you can play to have fun with your friends! Come and try it out! you won’t regret it.

Canadian Cancer Society School Club – Engage students, and as an extension to the school community, in a meaningful way with a cancer cause. Provides student with the opportunity to fulfill volunteer hours as well as to develop their leadership abilities. Also Fundraises for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Engineering Club – We will be designing, build and test model rockets and rocket planes; we’ll also be experimenting with robotics. the golal is to enter a robotics competition between high schools and build a fly-able hybrid rocket.

Go Club – Go is the oldest board game still played in its original form. the rules are simpler than chess, but the strategy is much more complex. come to learn, play or watch this exciting game!

GRAD COMMITTEE – The committee will plan activities and the Grad Dinner Dance for the grade 12 students. It will also help to provide free tickets to the Grad Dinner Dance for students who otherwise would not be able to afford the event. The committee will also arrange the sale of souvenir clothing for the 2010 grads.

HIP HOP CLUB – Raise one’s self-esteem through the love of hip hop culture. Break down barriers and negative misconceptions about the culture. Learn aspects of dance, history, music and respect.

Interact Club – Looking to make a difference? This is a service club sponsored by the Royal City Rotary and New Westminster Rotary. Students will have the opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects to support local and international causes.

Japan Club – Teaches people about Japanese culture. Meetings based on Japanese daily life or history. We’ll have tea ceremonies, flower arranging, calligraphy and many other interesting Japanese activities.

Magic Club – To give students opportunities to see magic tricks and learn these tricks themselves; also gives opportunities to research new tricks.

Model United Nation – Simulation of the UN General Assembly for students to assume the role of an ambassador representing a particular country. MUN’s goal is to raise awareness about international issues, hone debate and public speaking skills. Our goal is to encourage students to become responsible and active global citizens.

Musical Acts of Kindness – small band that performs in public places to raise money and awareness on youth homelessness. For the past two year, the band has raised money for children in the Elizabeth Gurney House, a single-mother homeless shelter in New Westminster.

NWSS amnesty International – Amnesty international works to grant people all over the world their human rights. Join us this year as we attack issues about women’s sexual, reproductive and social rights; third world environmental rights and the death penalty!

NWSS Dance Team – Focused on reharsing high quality hip hop choreography in order to perform at the school and in the community.

NWSS Math Club – FREE volunteer or CAS hours and improve or prepare for math exams or competitions. Provides free training that prepares you for future math challenges. We’ll hold math competitions and giveaways throughout the year.

NWSS Music Department – Sponsors small groups that are independently organized by students. Each group has a different meeting time, generally after school. These groups are often at community and school functions and go out to perform representing the school and music department to the greater community. Membership is by invitation or audition.

NWSS World Vision – help children and families around the world by promoting self-independence by donating tools. Also supply a specific child with supplies necessary for school. Our chief activities will be raising awareness and raising funds for those in need by having presentation as well as fundraising.

Quidditch Club – to play quidditch; the game played by wizards from J.K. Rowling’s famed novel series, Harry Potter. We are trying to pull this game out of the magical realm and establish it in our world. We want to re-inject the imagination of letting our imaginations to run free.

Red Cross – A service club that promotes and facilitates various humanitarian projects and initiatives with the guidance and organizational support of the Canadian Red Cross. Our goal is to inspire and empower the students of NWSS to become active, caring and responsible citizens within our local community and around the world.

SALSA Club – Learn Latin dances such as Salsa, Cuban Rueda, Merengue, Cha Cha, etc. Members will also have the opportunities to attend functions in the Lower Mainland and to perform at competitions and shows.
